Over the years, we’ve turned our hand to countless restoration and regeneration projects. One such example was Graylingwell Hospital in Chichester with Linden Homes which started in 2010. This project involved taking the original hospital, built in 1894, and giving it a complete overhaul. The hospital sported a classical Queen Anne style with a reconstituted stonework structure and a slate roof.
The NHS had inhabited the building until 2009, and following years of use as a hospital and insufficient maintenance, the hospital was in desperate need of work. With Lindens, NJS worked hard to restore these buildings into modern apartment blocks while retaining the splendour of the original structures. These flats now sit in the gorgeous Graylingwell parklands.
Another project we worked on was the King Edward VII hospital at Midhurst. This former hospital was completely transformed and converted into beautiful apartments, creating a community within wonderful estate-like grounds. We worked closely with City and Country to revive and restore these splendid buildings focusing on restoration rather than replacement.
